Join
the Rosedale Walking Club.... because we can't sit ourselves
fit!
RDA
and the Rosedale Healthy Kids Initiative have teamed up once again
to offer Rosedale residents a chance to get healthy this summer.
Generously supported by a Healthy Communities Wyandotte grant, the
Rosedale Community Walking Club kicked-off at Fisher Park on June
2 with a visit from the Mayor and NBC Action News.
Mayor
Reardon joined residents from the Fisher Park neighborhood and volunteers
from around Rosedale in the park to speak about healthy communities
and the importance of the health initiatives taking place in Rosedale.
Cynthia Newsome from NBC Action News walked with the group and spoke
to club participants about why they walk. Watch news coverage of
the kick-off here
.
The
Healthy Communities Wyandotte grant will support the club and pay
for improvements to park infrastructure, like new benches and lights.
Eventually, the routes used in the club will be fitted with urban
trail markers.
The
club meets Tuesdays at 8 a.m. and Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. at Fisher
Park, which is located at the corner of Lake Avenue and Springfield
Street in KCK.
